Fado Mouraria (traditional fado)
~ Work
Annotation
Fado Mouraria is one of the three oldest traditional fados. These three fados—Fado menor, Fado Mouraria and Fado corrido—have no known composer. Traditional fados are usually categorized by the poetic form they serve as accompaniment to, Fado Mouraria accompanies lyrics in quatrains.
Note that traditional fados are musical compositions to accompany the fadista, who will sing the lyrics of their choice—they have no fixed lyrics. If your recording is sung, it is not a recording of this work. Please add a new work (with traditional as the composer and this work with a “based on” relationship).
It is common for recordings of traditional fados to attribute the music to the name of the fado composition and not to the composer in the credits. Please do not add “Fado Mouraria” or “Mouraria” as an artist, no such artist exists. Instead, do as mentioned above, add a new work with this work as a “based on” relationship.
Generally, recordings of Fado Mouraria will have the title of the lyrics; occasionally the title may just be “Fado Mouraria”, but, as long as there are lyrics, it is still a work based on this work, not a recording of it.
