Fado menor do Porto (traditional fado)
~ Opera
Annotazione
Fado menor do Porto is a traditional fado composed by José Joaquim Cavalheiro Júnior. Traditional fados are usually categorized by the poetic form they serve as accompaniment to, Fado menor do Porto accompanies lyrics in quatrains.
This fado has been alternatively attributed to Santos Moreira, Amália Rodrigues' guitarist on several of her albums, such as Oiça lá ó Senhor Vinho—this is almost surely a mistake as this work is older—, and, quite often, to João Black; however all signed and professionally edited sources seem to attribute this composition to Cavalheiro Júnior.
Note that traditional fados are musical compositions to accompany the fadista, who will sing the lyrics of their choice—they have no fixed lyrics. If your recording is sung, it is not a recording of this work. Please add a new work (with José Joaquim Cavalheiro Júnior as the composer and this work with a “based on” relationship).
It is common for recordings of traditional fados to attribute the music to the name of the fado composition and not to the composer in the credits. Please do not add Fado Menor do Porto as an artist, no such artist exists. Instead, do as mentioned above, add a new work with this work as a “based on” relationship.
