HIT ME HARD AND SOFT

I haven't been a fan of low end murmering voice. I do not consider it exceptional or great in any measure. I did like a couple of songs on her debut album but not much else. This album hasn't exactly endeared me to her either. Some songs are listenable but none that step away feel like a banger, much less a classic. I know she has a dedicated legion of fans who would probably devote much time pouring over the lyric sheets, but it dealt with mundane topics. (In her defense, most pop music deals with only such safe issues, one is unlikely to find a blistering political track on such a major release). The instrumentation sometimes was sparse, and sometimes efficiently used though the instruments themselves weren't pushed to the limits (like say on a progressive rock album).

I honestly do not know what I expected going into this LP, maybe something earwormingly catchy which it lacks.
