Started as catalog company. Bought by Starbucks in 1999, which used the brand as to retail its cd compilations and market its music coffeehouses and cd retail stores.
As of March 12, 2007 Starbucks and the Concord Music Group co-launched Hear Music as a recording label, signing Paul McCartney ten days later.
